A55 crashes when insterting memory card

Hi!

I got an unsusual problem - at least I could not find anything about this issue online. 

My camera, a55, turns off when I instert the memorycard. If I turn on the camera with the memory card already insterted it turns off after 3 sec. If I turn the camera on without the memory card insterted, there is no problems at all - but as soon as the card is insterted the camera turns off imideately and not able to get it startet before the card is removed. Tried to format the card as well as other cards.

Anyone with a soulution to this problem?

Hi @event1983, welcome the the Community.

Have you tried inserting a 'known good' card, or is this happening with all cards? 

I've heard of problems with mis-aligned pins in the camera card slot, which may be the cause of the problem here, but it's difficult to be sure without getting an expert pair of eyes on it. 

Could you confirm you've tried a known good card?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the card is working and has been working for several years. Same issue with other cards - the camera turn off when I instert the card.

I don't think there's that you can do yourself at this except trying a factory reset. I found the steps in page 156 of the manual here: https://www.docs.sony.com/release/SLTA33.pdf
