Xperia Z5 dual premium (E6883) - Stuck on Lollipop 5.1.1, but Nougat 7.1.1 available?
Hi,
Trying to eek a few more months of use out of my Sony Xperia Z5. But some important apps are now not compatible with lollipop 5.1.1 anymore.
I am unable to upgrade to Nougat 7.1.1 even though the Sony website says it is available for this model:
https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/SX568701
- I do not get a notification that an upgrade is available
- I have tried doing it via the PC companion
- I have factory reset the phone and tried again
- I have enough space available
- Build number:32.0.A.6.115
I have a suspicion that the phone is a refurbished insurance replacement, and that deep in some rebuild process, a technician limited the android version it could be upgraded to. Read about the possibility somewhere, but now cannot find the reference.
Screen shots below, help will be greatly appreciated.
Nougat Available for Z5
Companion- Up to date

I'm sorry about your issue, I know how frustrating it can be, most likely the phone was locked to a carrier network (SIM locked) which didn't approved nor released the update.
The only alternative is to use Xperifirm to manually flash/update your phone.
