WX-920BT car stereo

Aside from the WX-920BT NOT being 2 DIN size and requiring a lot of work to fit the damn thing to my car, I can't update the firmware on it.  I have followed the instructions to the letter and it says update failed.  No whys or wherefores, just update failed.

To be honest, I wish i hadn't bought this Sony product now.  It may well be the last Sony thing I buy.

Hi thewildswan,

Have you followed the instructions here?

Thanks,

Yes I did and it failed several times.

However, I did it again today with  different USB drive and it worked.

It's sorted now.

Hi,

I've been trying to update WX-290BT firmware, with no luck. I tried six different USB drives. The closest to success was when I got "Update OK" info, immediately followed by "File error". I could press Enter to repeat the procedure but I could not exit it. Only hard reset by disconnecting power source helped. Other times I just ended up with "Update error" info. Do you have any tips what kind of USB drive to use?

I got the firmware and instructions from:

Hi @evlshroom

Does the update file match the size mentioned on the Sony website: 725 KB (743,041 byte)? If not, try to re-download it.

Are you try to update as a troubleshooting step for a different issue, or is it just a routine update?

Hi @Win_88,

I have issues with Bluetooth connection. The best case is, the first 30-60 seconds of playback are scattered or distorted. In the worst case, my phone does not connect at all.

I have Sony Xperia XZ1 with all current updates installed. Similar issue also occurs when connecting to some Motorola phone.

The latest update promisses a Bluetooth fix, so I thought I'd give it a go.

Have you tried pressing DSPL and CALL for more than 2 seconds? It's supposed to reset the system and I think it's worth a shot.

If the issue remains, I'd recommend contacting the Sony service centre: 01656 867347
