Sony Ericsson X8 sent for repair!

Hi folks

For the last few weeks my phone was starting to act up, freezing, shutting itself down e.t.c until it became unbearable that It wouldnt even let me answer phone calls or hang up after a call so on the 26th of Jan I brought it into the meteor store in town where I bought it and they sent if off to be repaired for me.

I rang them last friday 3rd feb to see if there was any sign of it being returned and they informed me that the Meteor repair centre had sent it off to Sony to be repaired so I should expect to hear back from Sony in approx 5 days.

So to get to the point -> My warranty will be up in approx 3 months on said phone so I am worried that the same issues will start to happen after they have repaired it. What happens if they send the phone back to me and in 2 months time it has the exact same faults again?? Am I covered for this eventuality even though the warranty will be up on the phone???? Also, how likely is it that Sony Ericsson will "replace" the phone? I don't necessarily want a replacement, I just want my phone fixed as its still in excellent cosmetic condition only it has hardware issues.

Any comments on this topic would be much appreciated!

Just a query, as your screen name is Galwaylad I am assuming you are from Ireland so the information I give is based on that.  As I understand it the EU warranty period is for two years and I don't believe the phone was released til Q3 2010 so you should have a while left on your warranty.  That said this section of the Warranty refers to repairs.

2. If Sony Ericsson repairs or replaces the Product, the repair for

the defect concerned, or the replaced Product shall be warranted

for the remaining time of the original warranty period or for ninety

(90) days from the date of repair, whichever is longer. Repair or

replacement may involve the use of functionally equivalent

reconditioned units. Replaced parts or components will become

the property of Sony Ericsson.
