X800 will not play DVDs at all: reports "no disk"

I got a recent upgrade to my Sony X800 4k player. Now it refuses to play DVDs at all. It simply replies "No Disk" and refuses to even load it.

I have all that you have suggested. I know the DVDs are fine... they work on other players.

The issue began after the lastest s/w upgrade. It still reports "No Disc" when a DVD is in use. 

Can I back off to the previous s/w release? It seemed OK then. If so, how?
