when I mute the tv it mutes the soundbar as well.
I have a Sony KD-49X8005C 49 inch 4K TV and just bought a Sony HT-XT1 2.1 Channel TV Base Speaker..wire it up ok via HDMI & ARC.
I am trying to mute the tv and just listen to the soundbar as the speakers on the tv are not very good tbh.
Trouble is, when I mute the tv it mutes the soundbar as well.
It has a sky box and a Shield wired up to it via arc and optical cable..

I have looked online and tried a few things that I have saw but still no good.
Obviously it is something easy to do but I am missing it somehow.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Oh!! while I am here... this happens downstairs on my Sony Bravia KDL55W8. and HTCT770 2.1ch 330w HD Soundbar as well.
Basically I want to listen to the soundbars without the tv audio on.
Thank you.

Hi there
If setup correctly, audio should not be going through the TVs speakers at all and only via the soundbar.
As you have connected other devices to the soundbar via HDMI Cable, you do not need the optical cables - which maybe confusing things. So remove them.
Ensure that 'Speakers' is set to 'Audio System' from the action menu.
Cheers
