Hello,
I've followed the instructions very carefully and updated my receiver using the ES Utility and A64E_1065.zip which I downloaded from the Sony.co.uk website.
After letting the update complete it now shows DSP COM VER. ERROR and I have no sound at all.
Just warning you, don't update your receivers!
I'll come back to let you know what the outcome is but I'm sure its got to go back to Sony.

Hi All,
Firstly allow me to apologise for the problems caused when you updated your firmware using A64E_1065, this was an error in the file and we are working on a new version to correct this.
Unfortunately I am not in a position to give an eta on the new software's availability, but if you take your Receiver to your local Sony Regional Authorised Service Centre, they will be able to recover it to a working state, albeit with an early version of European software. (Please note there may be limitations to some functions such as Shoutcast)
There will be no charge for this service.
You can locate your local Regional Authorised Repair Centre by entering your postcode here http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/repair/asc and selecting List View, or by calling 0844 8466 555.
Kind Regards
John Cobb

I got exactly the problem about installing firmware 1.65.
with firmware 1.65, I was blinking blue LED light (about 1 per second). then after a minute starts to blink frequently.
I left everything for the night.
the morning off and on the receiver.
firmware 0.010
repeatedly tried to install 1.65 - no change.
in the service instructions found how to do reset.
made a reset.
it got worse.
GUI
does not provide access to network configuration and firmware update menu.

OK I accessed the Special Menu
System versions as follows:
Main A64ES CEL v1.06
Video Ucom ver 1.04
Faroudja Ver 1.15
Faroudja2nd ver 1.14
GUI Cgrom ver 1.13
DSP Ucom ver 0.00
DSP SFlasf ver 0.00
DSP PFlash ver 0.00
IR Learning ver 1.00
Network PNX Ver 1.10
So it would seem that my DSP has not been flashed with the correct version.
Sershar thanks for the offer of the A64U but my filenames have to start A64E to be the correct version.
Also I don't think that I'll even be able to flash it again through the network because I too get the rapid flashing blue light when I tried to reflash, which I didn't get the first time, it went through perfectly fine.
