Hi The_Black_Rose.

I have not been able to due test via phono plugs as I do not have anymore. I did try playing music from my iPad via the WiFi and still could only get the tv speakers to work ! Which I was able to use the sound system before ,it’s always connected via the sky Q box or any of the two sky mini boxes, so it’s not working through that way ether!!!  I seem to have come to a brick wall again . Have you any thoughts???

cheers . Solowhiskey.

Hello.

I have a similar problem. Recently installed Home Cinema System HT-RT3 and Blue Ray Video Player UBP-X500, TV is a GX87. All SONY, system works perfectly until I play a blue ray video main feature, no sound until I switch to TV speakers. Playing a standard DVD and watching programs from Netflix etc. is no problem through the sound system. Even the trailers and extras on the blue ray disc work ok through the sound system, as soon as the main feature starts, the sound cuts out. I have tried every conceivable way of changing cables to no avail.

Help please anyone.

P.S. The technical support line to SONY at the moment is not functioning correctly due  to a CAPTCHA problem!

Hi,

@solowhiskey

Has this issue only started happening recently or did you just start using that Sky Q box? I'm thinking there could be an incompatibility issue somewhere in your set up related to the audio signal format. So here's what I've come up with:

  1. Try changing the audio settings of the Sky box to a different audio format (PCM should be the one with the highest chance of being compatible.
  2. Alternatively, if the box has a separate HDMI audio out port, try connecting the audio system directly to it (Since this is the only source you actually use with the TV, you won't be loosing much in terms of connectivity options or flexibility).

@Animal59

There are a few things that could be clarified:

  1. Has the issue been happening since you put your set up together or did it used to work before?
  2. Does this happen with all Blu-ray discs you play?
  3. Try changing the audio format from the player (only Dolby Digital, PCM and AAC are supported by the sound bar), you can find the steps on page 18 of the player's manual: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/res/manuals/4738/6168d159ebb0d87aae8f2821af5269ee/4738236...
  4. Make sure all devices are up to date.

Hi.

Many thanks for the reply and advice.

The set up is brand new and yes it happens with all Blu-ray discs.

I will try and change the sound settings and see what happens.

In terms of up to date devices, I'm assuming you mean software updates?

Many thanks,

hi win_88

this problem started all on it's own as i have had the system for a few years with it all working ok ! i have tried all sorts of things, cables, changing audio settings, resetting to factory on both TV and Surround Sound System, even optical leads, and connections sat to sound system, but to no avail. I only have one HDMI on the SAT box so that's a no goer. Not sure where to go from here, unless you can think of anything else to try??
