HXD890 date problem

Overnight our HXD890 has changed date from 30/3 to 1/4, instead of 31/3. A recording due for 31/3 is permanently on standby and when I cancel it, it reverts back to standby immediately. I have cancelled all other recordings but this one won't clear. Because the machine is permanently on standby, I can't access the clock settings or perform factory re-set. Has anyone had this problem before? I've unplugged the machine for a while and tried again but it immediately goes onto timer ready for the recording and then stays on standby. I can't access anything as the machine is showing it's recording.

Its always better to be sat in front of problems like this, however......

1/ You can try a soft reset by holding your finger on the power button for several seconds. Although that normally requires the machine to be on (not in standby) the fact you say you can cancel timer recordings etc suggests it isn't in standby.

2/ The above probably won't work... but you have to try it. If it doesn't then perform a full reset. This should bring the machine back to 'out of the box' condition and you will lose all settings but not the content on the HDD.

To perform a full reset first turn the recorder on. Now press and hold 'Stop' on the front panel and while still holding the button press 'standby'.

Make sure there is NO dvd in the tray when you reset it.

Thanks for this. I had already tried these options without success but the problem resolved itself last night. There was one timer recording set for 31/3 which I couldn't cancel - it would cancel then almost immediately go back to "timer recording standby". I couldn't access any settings and it wouldn't respond to any attempt to re-set. I left the machine on all evening and after it repeatedly gave the "cancelled" then "timer recording standby" message, it finally stopped trying to make the recording. The problem seems to have been an incorrect date change - the EPG was correctly showing 31/3 yesterday but the timer recording function had jumped to 1/4. When it stopped trying to record the programme set to record on 31/3, the timer recording date reverted to 31/3. The date has correctly changed to 1/4 today.

Pleased to hear it has resolved itself. These older recorders are far to good to give up on.

Yes, it's been a great investment so we're glad we don't have to replace it just yet.
