Dear Sony Community, I have a Sony CMT-NEZ50 Micro Hi-fi Component System (MP3). I know, it's a bit old, but it has been working fine to date. However the remote is a different matter. Few weeks ago it started not responding to the buttons. It is a RM-SC30R Remote. I opened it up and cleaned all the contacts with alcohol based cleaner. Put it all back together but no difference.
I did the pointing it to the mobile phone camera test to see if the IF signal is being sent. Some buttons do operate but a couple do not. I decided it is best to get a pre-owned Sony replacement from eBay. My RM-SC30 remote seems to be the more expensive than others. Pre-owned Sony remotes such as RM-SC1 , RM-SC3 , RM-SC55 , and RM-SC50 which looks to be the closest Sony remote to Mine (It just has an additional Disc Skip function but all other buttons are exactly the same) are sold at cheaper prices.
.
My Question is - Would Any Of These Other Sony Remotes Operate My Hi-fi or Do All Sony Remotes Have Individual IR Frequencies Unique to the Hi-Fi Units That They Operate..? Can I for example, purchase a nice clean Sony RM-SC50 remote to use on my CMT-NEZ50 Hi-Fi instead of the RM-SC30...?
If anyone out there can advise - I would be grateful.
Thank You.
