I've just picked up a used Sony A7Rii from a web shop with one years warranty. I registered the camera on the Sony site just to make it quick and easy to access info on this camera via my account.
I have now received an email from Sony with the offer of a years extended warranty.
My question is can I do this and will that extend the present warranty from the shop I got it from? This is a bit confusing!

It does, yes. But if the warranty was registered under the first user's name, you'll have to make sure it is registered under your name now. You can easily do that by contacting Sony directly.
The extended warranty from Sony is a manufacturer warranty, by default all devices have a 1 year warranty from the date on your receipt, the extension means that you'll have one year on top of that, but it's separate from the store warranty.
Thanks. Yes I understand that, my question is does that extend the warranty on a used (secondhand) camera?

I did the registration and it worked fine in my name. Thanks 😀
