Sony HX60 flash question

I've just purchased a Sony cybershot DSC-HX60. Almost immediately, I've discovered that when in auto-flash mode, the flash does not pop up automatically. Is this normal? Has anyone else had this problem, or is mine faulty?

The flash doesn't pop-up automatically, you have to press the flash

pop-up button on the back (top left-hand side.)
