Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T1 screen distorted
The screen is split into two, top half blank, bottom half is streaky lines,( it will take pix & movies but of the previous description) It has been unused for a couple of years (due to the use of a new Sony a350) I do believe there was an issue a couple of months after I purchased it but cannot find any info, but think it was somthing to do with the display screen.

Hello edwward59 - welcome to the Sony Forums
It definitely sounds like the camera has developed some kind of internal fault and I would advise speaking to Sony Customer Services in order to diagnose the problem and get some further information about a repair. There is a 'Sticky' forum thread which gives the necessary information so that you can get in touch:

Thanks

Hello edwward59,
If your antivirus software is preventing the installation of the new software, I would suggest that you temporarily disable the antivirus. The way to do this varies from product to product so you would need to check out the manual/support website that came with your software. Once you have tried this, simply turn the virus protection back on to make sure that you don't go unprotected.
Thanks

Hi Simon, thanks for your latest post, since my last visit on the Community Forum, I have been to the local Sony shop, & they like me think the camera sensor is at fault & would be too costly to repair. I have also looked at varius for sale sites & found 2nd hand prices at around £40. So in essence I think the camera is for disposal (scrap) or spares. All other functions on the camera (on screen graphics, menus, zoom, focus ect ) .
& it takes pics & videos but they are distorted as described in my first post.

Hi , has anybody an address where I can obtain a CCD unit for the DSC-T1, I have recently resumed my quest to get my camera working. I have seen on e-bay a video on how to dissemble the dsc-t1, but not where & how much dosh might be required for the parts. It seems a shame to dispose of this camera. Sony has seen fit to cancel a free repair on a serious malfunction with which they are fully aware of. So can anybody in the community, including SONY help.

Hi - I've never used them but you could try Partmaster: http://www.partmaster.co.uk/cgi-bin/catalogue.pl?section=107745&link_parent=97236&path=97229&shop=so...
Other than that, last I looked the only decent-sized parts distributors were in the US.
If you'd rather contact Sony you'll find the details on this page: http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/contacts/dime
Cheers

Hi Mick, I thank you for your reply to my quest, I have looked at the Partmaster site & the ccd unit is availiable to purchase for £36. I will shortly give them a phone call to find out if it is indeed availiable. I don`t have the camera in my possesion at the present time as only today I have taken it to a camera repair specialist to see if it can be estimated a for a repair, I will if the part is truly avaliable get it back & try my own repair, I will keep the community posted.
Thanks again to you & the community for your reply.

Hi! I have just fitted a new ccd to my T1. I bought it from here via paypal. It cost £8.95 and arrived in just 5 days. It took just 10 mins to fit.
Good luck!
Regards, Doug.
