I have a KD-55AG8 television.
The TV is connected to the home wi-fi network (Vodafone Gigafast 500Mbps fibre to Vodafone router).
If necessary I could quite easily run a Cat 5e or 6 LAN cable from router to TV.
The TV sees my QNAP TS-453A NAS connected to the router and can see existing .mp4 movies in \public.
I tried to use VLC in TV apps to access the NAS to play DVDs stored as TS_Video folders.
However, the VLC app seems to be looking for a USB drive connected to the TV ??
Any help much appreciated.
(I have a few hundred movie DVDs ripped to .mp4 files via Handbrake - originally to play on my iPad on business flights but have sufficient storage to convert the DVDs to TS_Video folders - for better quality ??).
Also is Plex available on that model of TV and would that improve matters ??
Plex is available in the play store along with many other players. For each of them you have to refer to the respective developer in order to see which feature they make available. Not many player though managed the DVD structure while they support the .VOB files underneath
