Is it OK to expect Android Oreo on 2017 Sony Android TVs?
Hi Russ I still am not getting the Oreo 8 update on my XE 9305 even though ive got the auto update set to on. Ive downloaded the image and might do it manually seeing as now I know from your post that all my settings will be maintained after the update.
Justwant to check Do i just format the usb stick to fat32 and copy the pkg file onto it and then plug it in to the tv to kick off the update or is it necessary to power the tv on and then off?
Hi @romipat
I always format the USB as NTFS and I have never had a problem. I normally put the USB in the HDD slot which is blue 3.0). If it doesn’t pick up the update after a few seconds, I would leave it in and perform a reset (hold the remote power button down for about 10 seconds until you see Power off ...) then if you have followed the instructions correctly it should pick it up.
I updated my KD-55XE9305 to Oreo in February (6.6510) and updated to (6.6520) on the day it was released in May without any problems.
cheers for the reply,
ill re-format the stick in ntfs and then copy the pkg file to the root and plug the stick in to the xe 93 and hopefuly t will just detect it and start the update

Any news on TVs?.
The live stream constantly buffers on my 65mbps connection. Hopeless
So I guess we'll just wait for the 4K hotel room video 😉
From this post doesn't look like any TV news. Hopefully someone can confirm later.

The video is very jerky and skips at the point when an 8k TV is being shown with a video game on screen and the sony guy saying that an exhibition is not the best place to display this. Then it abruptly cuts to yet more headphone/sound based items.
I couldn't see anything about Android TV at all
