Sony A6000 kit lens slow to retract. Help!

I recently moved across to Sony and have been trying out their A6000 with a 16-50mm lens (i.e. the kit lens). I have checked my firmware (v3.20) as I read somewhere else that it could the cause lens retraction to be sluggish. So, I don't seem to need a firmware update but my lens retraction is quite slow. It can also be slow to turn on which causes me to miss a fair few shots. I have more recently been shooting in raw, however, this issue was happening before I started doing this. I have also shot in raw with other cameras and not had the same experience with lens sluggishness. 

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Welcome to the Sony Community.

I've checked and you do have the latest software update Ver.3.20, which should optimize the performance of the lens. 

Have you tried to reset the camera to default?

Failing this, it might be best to get in touch with support team here for further help.
