Cashback

I bought an ILCE-7M3 camera body in June from Amazon UK, but had it delivered to Spain where I was on holiday. The invoice is headed "Amazon.co.uk", my account is with Amazon UK and I paid in pounds but the the invoice says sold by Amazon Spain. So when I submitted my cashback claim to Sony UK, they rejected it because they said Amazon in Spain was not a participating retailer in the UK. So I then submitted a claim to Sony in Spain, and guess what? Yup, they rejected it because the invoice was from Amazon UK, even though it clearly names the seller as Amazon Spain!

Both replies suggested I contact Amazon to get a new invoice showing only Amazon UK or Amazon Spain on it, which I did, but Amazon said they could not issue a revised invoice.

It should be perfectly obvious that I have purchased this camera from Amazon, and that they are a participating retailer in both countries, so why are Sony being so awkward about this? Looking at this message board, it looks like they have a history of trying to avoid making these cashback payments.

I am now considering taking it up with one of the UK newspaper consumer columns, and possibly making a You Tube video on the subject.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Hi Marnewma75 ,

I think this can only be resolved by Amazon as they should provide an invoice showing this was supplied by Amazon UK.

I too feel swindled by Sony. Bought a SEL2470Z lens from a UK supplier and expected to get £80 cashback from Sony. The lens is clearly marked EU Importer Sony Europe Ltd with a belgium address. A supporting sticker was on the box. The UK supplier delivered at an excellent price and I have supplied Sony with both an invoice and shipping notes. Sony won't pay in that they say this is not a participating supplier. They did give me an extended warranty though when I registered the lens with them.  I see this as shoddy customer relations. I was going to buy another E fit lens from the same source but will let it lie. The A7M3 is a super camera but slightly spoiled by the Sony attitude.

Ah yes, so I have been given a different refute.
From a bit of googling it seems it's common for Sony to make up excuses to refuse cashback claims. Mine is currently going through the 'this is an order confirmation not an invoice' spiel. Others in the past have simply persevered in getting their claim having to resend the same invoice six times, explaining that the 'order confirmation' is the invoice because it contains all the relevant details: invoice number, date of order, date of invoice, camera model number, Company name, pricing, your name and address etc.

I hope that helps answer your questions.
Reply and keep trying. All the best.

Just a bit of an update. I managed to get my cashback in the end. The invoice/order confirmation had to be clearly titled 'Invoice' or 'Sales Invoice' at the top, also you can only send one file. I emailed the seller explaining my situation and they quickly emailed me back an invoice that's clearly titled and formatted.
I got the confirmation that payment will reach me in 28 days.
