First seen with A6700. Downloaded a few images to tablet with wifi / Bluetooth, then switched camera off. Next morning found A6700 had completely flat battery. Another time downloaded some images to tablet, switched off, after an hour or so found A6700 battery compartment warm.
Now updated A1 and now uses Creators App. Downloaded a few images to tablet with WiFi / Bluetooth, then Switched camera off. Next day found A1 with completely flat battery.
It appears cameras are not switching off ?.
Anyone else seen similar?
I use A7iv, and doesn’t tested file transfer from last firmware update, but with older vorsions never experienced. I have to say that I use really rarely the transfer with app.
Please, check the option: https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/2320/v1/en/contents/0703_connect_while_power_off.html
I've never had an issue with the old app IEM, only with Creators App.
Both cameras have Cnct. while Power OFF set to OFF
Hey @GordonT
Did you check if the firmware versions of both of your cameras are up-to-date?
You can also make sure that you're using the latest version of the Creators app, or else, try with Imaging Edge and let us know the outcome.
A1 v2.01
A6700 v1.03
Creators App v2.3.1 , is this the latest ?
Yes, these are the latest version, but let me ask you some questions just to get a clear view of what's happening:
- Are you using original batteries? Can you provide us pics of the front and the back of all tested batteries?
- Is the issue happening only when transferring files or also when controlling the camera in remote using the app?
- Is the issue happening when no lens or a lens different from the SEL200600G is connected?
- Is the issue still happening if, after using the app, you disconnect camera and smartphone?
All original sony batteries that came with the cameras.
Only tried it with Creators App download. Doesn't happen every time.
Happens with A1 and A6700, ie my only cameras using Creator App.
Not only with 200-600 lens.
Downloading with Samsung tablet or Google Pixel 7a.
Another issue is l can't always switch the A1 on after downloading. ( see another thread of mine).
Seems to me the WiFi doesn't switch off even if the camera is switched off after downloading.
Hey @GordonT
Can you try to disconnect the camera and smartphone/tablet after using the app, and confirm the outcome?
I stop the creator app, and the app process running in the background, and then switch off the camera.
Often the A1 will not switch back on after this and needs the battery removing and reinserting to allow the A1 to work again.
I don't leave it every time without doing this to see if the battery goes flat.
I can provide a video showing what happens ( l have already sent the details and video to my local sony dealer to see if they can action this)
