Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet Wallpaper

Whenever i try and download a wallpaper from google (making sure it is a high resolution wallpaper) and then try and set it as a wallpaper it goes into the crop menu and no matter what i do it crops the photo really small so it becomes very pixelated

But you don't experience the same if you use a picture taken with the tablet?
