Screen goes blank on my GRX670

I have a GRX 670, it's a year and a half old, so no warrenty. The screen has gone blank!! Acctually the problem started a couple of weeks ago, when I turned it on the sony logo would be yellowish, but all was well after it started. That is till last night. It started to flicker, then it goes blank. The computer is still up and running (it's networked so I can tell).
Anyone have any suggestions, before I go in for exploritory surgury???

I certainly do. Still performing OK after it's two replacement motherboards.

When I think about it you're right. The GRX was replaced because they couldn't repair it at all (They had already changed the motherboard and virtually everything else inside it).

The second one failed just after the warranty but because of the problems I had with the first one I got the motherboard replaced on that FOC

Oh yeah, I remember, 10 days after purchase.

It's such a shame they're not more reliable, GRX'es are pretty good laptops.
Handy for all occasions.

They were the flagship Sony notebook when I bought mine - over £2200 for the GRX316SP. I had expected greater reliability from it. Haven't had any problems with it since the M/B was changed and hope I never do.

I'd be really annoyed if I had paid as much as you, thankfully I got mine for £1600 just at the end of the production.

£1600 is still not cheap, I still want about 2 years more out of mine, particularly since I'm not using it as often.

Specially when I SAVED for 12 months (and I think I should do it again, eating too much :smileygrin:)
