Dear Sir or Madam,
My new tv is due delivery this week. Do you recommend that the tv is unplugged overnight?
Many thanks
Dr Neil Dewhurst
Hi @h10d1g36s1b56e23 and welcome to the Community
I suppose it depends on personal preference depending on the reason for doing so.
Many years ago people were advised to unplug their
sets at night by the continuity announcer when TV / channels shut down for the night.
This was as a safeguard against the power hungry old TVs catching fire.
Modern sets however are much less risk, (although not non-existent) plus most go into standby if the remote hasn't been used for a while.
Many people leave them plugged in and in standby mode without any problems,
although standby mode still consumes electricity.
I guess its up to you, it certainly won't damage your set if you do unplug it each night.
