What is this "REPROGRAMMING" thing that the technicians are talking about?

Whenever I visit the service center to ask for a replair of my mix walkman phone, I always hear from the technician about this reprogramming thing as a solution for a hanging phone that is already out of warranty and they charge 500php for that. Is this reprogramming the same as an update service and PC Companion repair?

Then why are they charging such huge amount of money if it is just a software update they are doing?

Maybe SE should know this because it is destroying people's trust in SE service centers here in davao city!!

maybe when Sony takes full control of Sony Ericsson things will change and we'll get proper customer service
