STR DN1080 muting
My STR DN1080 initially switches on in ‘muting’ mode. How do I bypass this so that when switched on the system is not muted?

I maybe able to offer a possible solution (though this was an issue I had with an Onkyo years ago so it may not apply here!).
I would check your TV settings and see if you have a 'preferred' audio mode/setting for which speakers to use. I had a nissue with an old TV that had 'TV speakers' selected, which meant the receiver was always muted until activated. Once changed to 'Receiver' on the TV, all was OK.
Could be something to do with HDMI control etc.

automatically switches on in ‘muting’ mode. My inputs to the amp are from
WiFi, virgin box and DVD player. The amp output goes to the TV through
hdmi. It’s no big issue, just a little niggle!

Thanks for the advice. Although there wasn't that selection, I experimented with the different HDMI settings and now the AVR switches on when I switch the TV on and it doesn't mute. Good solution.

Excellent!
Once you have got it running properly, and I appreciate this is of on somewhat of a tangent, are you able to please see if the behaviour described in this thread is seen on your unit?
Thanks
