Problems with my Sony DRD HXD870 HDD/DVD Recorders

1.I cannot optimise the two machines they both just have zero time for the optimising function and it prompts you to optimise again.

2. i cannot download to a DVD Recordable disc on both machines,I have tried many manufcturers without success.

3. both machine do not recognise discs they have already doewloaded to, they come up with the message no programmes recorded, however all the recorded discs play on other machines such as your surround sound system which I also own.

Most of my electronic equipment over at least the last 60 years have been manufactured by yourselves, I have always found your equipment to be extremely reliable.

You aren’t talking to Sony here, just to your fellow-customers, and a few Sony representatives who probably work office hours.

So try to be patient; there are some experts on these old devices around (and I’m not one) who may respond when they next look at the Community.

My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…

I know this gets trotted out many times but it has got to worth a factory reset to ensure its starting from a known good state.

If the HDD is very full it may not be possible to Optimise as that requires significant amounts of free space on the drive. You would have to delete titles to free up perhaps 30% of the total space and try again.

Also is the HDD the original or has it been replaced with a larger capacity type (which would have required use of the Service Remote to initially format it)

The DVD issues could be anything from a dusty lens on the pickup to a genuine fault.
