I have upgraded my Blu ray player from a Samsung bdj7500 to the Sony ubpx700. With the Samsung I could play Blu ray disk audio through my vintage Linn system using an hdmi splitter with hdmi input from the Blu ray player and 2 outputs - 1 hdmi to the vivitek projector - and the other output of 2 Linn interconnects to the Kairn amplifier. So far I haven’t been able to find any way of making this work with the Sony player. Any ideas? Please don’t suggest running through a TV. I’ve never owned one. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello again @LightFoot Definitely good advice - to try solutions using Amazon...
Turns out there are two - [a] a newer 4K HDMI splitter and [b] a digital to analogue audio converter using the audio coaxial cable slot on the Sony. I did upgrade the HDMI cables as well - partly so I could get longer ones. The final Amazon order was a 5V 1A adapter with a long cable - the DC power cable with both splitter and audio converter was nowhere near long enough.
Thanks for your support - Im really glad to be able to continue using the Linn system!
Hi @Janey.
Unless I have missed it, do you get a picture on your projector?
A couple of things to check:
1. How old is the splitter, does it support the latest HDCP 2 protection protocols and latest picture formats like dolby vision.
2. Does your audio system support the audio format being output by the UBP-X700.
You may be able to change the settings in the UBP-X700 for audio and/or picture, but the HDCP is a show stopper.
If you connect the UBP-X700 direct to the audio system, do you get sound. Likewise, if you connect the UBP-X700 direct to the projector, do you get pictures.
Hello Lightfoot. Thanks for the quick reply.
If I connect an hdmi cable direct from the Blu-ray player to the projector I get a (really good!) picture. But no sound - though I wasn’t really expecting any as I’ve always run dvd/bluray sound through my stereo.
I did start to wonder though whether I needed to upgrade the hdmi cables (to 2.1?) and the splitter e.g. to a more up to date one? Would that make a difference? Thanks again for any further thoughts.
Hi @Janey. Buy them from Amazon, that way you can send them back if it doesn't make any difference 😀. In my opinion, if you get a good picture with your existing HDMI leads, then you don't need to update them.
