bdp-s790 dlna performance

just purchased this player, no impressed, the player appears to buffer the songs:it sees the media player (nas) and presents the folders OK but there's ~30seconds delay (at least) between tracks. plays OK via high media player and also to Samsung mobile running 2player. also note that whilst I can send tracks from the server to player, doesn't appear to work for nas to 790

Hi there

Its hard to get a full picture of what going on without more specific details.

Details such as:

  • What music files are you trying to play? (MP3/FLAC)
  • What NAS do you have?
  • What Media Server Software are you using?
  • Are things connected wirelessly or wired?
  • And any other relevent but specific details

Cheers.

thanks for your reply. in response:
all files are mp3
the server is a western digital live duo
the nas is running the manufacturers in-built software (latest revision)
both devices are connected via wired ethernet - gigabit via a netgear switch
there are three other devices used for clients: a Samsung galaxy S2 running 2player client (wireless), a raspberry pi running latest debian code and gmrender - again wireless, and a marantz m-cr603 media player - wired. these all play flawlessly.
not sure what other details to add

Thanks for the extra information.

I honestly cannot see any reason why MP3's shouldnt play - all looks good, and its not like MP3's are a strain on resources/network etc.

I would probably ensure that the bluray player has the latest firmware installed, as well as do a factory reset (just in case there are any 'stuck' settings/gremlins etc)

I did find this in the manual

"The player can recognise the following files

or folders stored in the DLNA server:
– up to folders in the 19th layer
– up to 999 files/folders in a single layer"

If the factory reset doesnt solve the problem, it might be best to contact Sony Support.

Cheers
