Android background

Can anyone help me to stop Android using background data? I'm on a pay as you go Sim and it's costing me a fortune. Seriously considering binning the phone.

Yes absolutely every app has data restricted and mobile data has always been turned off. The only thing that uses data is Android and there doesn't seem to be any way to restrict it.  This has all started happening in the last few months

I have the same problem, I think I didnt have this problem before but now I have...

I have turned off datausage completely, and installed a firewall that blocks everything on the phone from using data, still OS services uses data every day and it is eating up my cash card funds rapidly because data usage is expensive.

I have no solution!
