Deep within the hallowed walls of the prestigious Pinewood Studios lies the Sony Digital Motion Picture Centre Europe (DMPCE). This is one of the world’s leading destinations for makers of film, television and commercials; a place for Europe’s filmmaking community to come together and share their enthusiasm and knowledge.

 

We know that our audience are passionate about shooting their own video, and so the Sony DMPCE are holding a number of courses over the summer for those looking to push their creative and technical boundaries. Whether you’re already in the moving image industry or an aspiring professional, these highly interactive courses are open to anyone. Each course is led by industry-renowned professionals in association with Sony Europe Limited.,  

 

There’s a number of different one-day courses to suit everyone’s needs:

 

  • The Fundamentals of Lighting for High Resolution Shooting – Friday 26th June and Monday 10th August. Led by Graham Jaggers, you will learn the fundamentals of lighting, the underlying principles to help you plan and use lighting to get a professional look from video cameras.

 

  • Camera and Lighting Fundamentals – Thursday 9th July and Wednesday 29th July. Led by Graham Howe, you will learn about the best methods and techniques for operating a range of video cameras, lighting scenes from formal interviews to stand up Vox Pops.

 

  • Wedding Videography Course– Wednesday 17th June and Sunday 5th July.  Led by Zulqar Cheema, you will learn how to film a wedding (Anglican or Civil) in a hands-on and friendly environment. Not only will you learn the best practice of how to shoot a wedding but also how to handle a client and run a business in Wedding Videography.

 

  • In House Video Production for Business – Monday 13th July and Monday 7th September. Led by Romek Knopp, you will learn how to shoot your own in house video including how to operate a video camera, lighting and sound fundamentals, followed by an overview of video editing. Mainly hands on, this course will involve substantial practical exercises, led by an experienced trainer.

 

  • Corporate Video Production – Wednesday 24th June and Friday 7th August. Led by Wojtek Bogdanowicz, you will learn about the world of Corporate Video Production compared to other aspects of the industry, with hands-on practical experience of typical corporate scenarios.  

 

  • Sound Fundamentals for Videography – Saturday 20th June and Monday 27th July. Led by Olli Widdaker. As a videographer, you have to do everything and sometimes sound takes a back seat. This one day course will give you a focused day on the fundamentals of sound.

 

  • Make-up techniques for the perfect on-camera look – Sunday 19th July and Sunday 23rd August. Led by Aimee Adams, you will learn on camera makeup techniques for film, tv and stills that withstand the scrutiny of ultra-high definition. You will gain an understanding not only of makeup application but also lighting and behind the scenes on set knowledge.
