Sony KD-49XH8196 issues?

I recently bought a Sony KD-49XH8196 about 3 weeks ago. I have set it up and was working ok, apart from the streamed channels Yaas, 365 Travel, SBN, Vision TV and Channelbox etc. I have done an initial setup accepting all Terms and Conditions without success. I have done a complete reset and another setup but that has not resolved the issue. Also another issue is that E4+1 is not viewable. It shows in the TV guide and on the info bar when you select the channel but with no picture or sound? Selecting help and viewing the channel strength and quality all channels show 100 on the quality and at least 95 strength on every multiplex,channel.  I have tried the channels on both Freeview and Youview with the same result. I am starting to wonder if buying my first Sony TV was a mistake as these seem to be common problems. The firmware has been updated and all the apps are up to date. Connection from my router is wired. Maybe I should have bought a Panasonic in hindsight. However if I can't get these issues resolved the TV may have to go back as faulty and then buy a Panasonic.

I sorted the issue with E4+1, it appears to be a Freeview issue. I connected a Panasonic tv with Freeview to the aerial and got the same result of no E4+1. The guide shows program information on both Tv's but no picture. Signal quality is 100% with signal strength above 95% on every mux. I had already tried a retune without the aerial anyway before trying the Panasonic. I am just unable to resolve the issue of the channels that are provided via streaming, such as Yaas, Vision TV, Channelbox, VOD365 etc. I have done a complete reset and retune accepting all terms and conditions for Android etc without success. The internet connection to the TV is wired and all streaming services such as Netflix are working well.

Have you tried tuning the TV without the aerial to reset the tuner? Usually helps with reception issues.

 

PS: Making sure the TV is up to date is also a good step to try.

Sky Arts is absolutely fine on both the Panasonic and the Sony.

That shows you are getting the mux with E4+1 on OK, then.

 

I can get E4+1 on both my YouView box and a couple of Samsung TVs here, so I don’t know what the issue might be; but I do recall that there was a time when Film Four came up with a black screen on my YouView box, though Film Four+1 was absolutely fine and both were fine on the Samsung’s TVs, and Channel 4 had to do something to get the Film Four signal back in conformance with the appropriate broadcasting standards.

 

And this is Channel 4 here again, so drop them a note to complain, with screenshots maybe.

Thanks for the info regarding E4+1. I have submitted a report via Channel 4's reporting. So I'll see if this results in the issue being resolved.
