Hi all,
I'm posting this here and on the Sky Q Community forums, hoping someone can help with my setup.
I've just purchased a Sonos Playbase to replace my Sony HT-XT2 Soundbase. The HT-XT2 was connected via HDMI ARC, but the Playbase is connected via Optical. I have a Sony XF8096 Android TV and v2 Sky Q 2TB Box.
If I use any of the Apps built into my TV (Youtube, Netflix etc) then the audio is perfect, a nice thumping and punchy bass which is what I like. Same when I AirPlay music from my iPhone to the the Playbase, it sounds great, but when I'm watching anything on the Sky Q box, there's no thump in the bass whatsoever.
I've compared the TV Audio settings on HDMI3 (Where the Sky Q box is) to the sound settings when watching via an App and they're the same. On the Sky Q box I've set both HDMI and Optical Out to Dolby Digital, the HT-XT2 was only Stereo hence changing this setting.
I am aware there are no EQ settings on the Sky Q box, so wondered did anybody have any ideas or suggestions as to how I can get the audio from the Sky Q box to the same as on the Apps?
Thanks in advance.
Hi there,
Hopefully a community member will be able to help with this.
Best wishes,

Hi Graeme,
Since the same settings are used in both cases on the TV, I don't think it has anything to do with the quality difference. Are you sure you checked all related settings on the Sound bar?
