KD-65XG8505 - Channel 4 Catch Up stopped working

I’ve had the above tv for a few years and have watched Channel 4 catch up multiple times until last week when it stopped working.  Selecting it from the tv menu gives the beep to confirm selection, but it doesn’t open the player. My tv is a Freesat model, so I have never had a normal aerial connected not have I ever used youview, in fact I don’t have an aerial that could even reach the telly.  I have also tried casting from my iPad and when doing so, it starts to play the adverts but brings up an error when the programme starts. I can’t understand why it worked last week, but not now.  Heellllpppp

Thanks for that information.  I was hopeful that you were my saviour. Unfortunately, Channel 4 and ITVX still don’t work having done as you suggested and restarted the TV. No change at all. But thanks anyway.

@ThomSony go to Settings>Apps>LiveTV&Catchup>Uninstall updates and also click on force stop, try these steps, then open the player again through the catchup service.

I have already tried that. Strangely I got an email from Channel 4 yesterday, despite me never having contacted them. They said “we’ve noticed you are having problems using the Channel 4 streaming service”

 

basically there is a licensing issue with streaming services that affects Sony and other TVs that have Android software. They are working on a fix.
