Just done 10 days where silent shooting was essential. 1000+ pics taken in silent mode. A7M3 set up with quick in and out C buttons for silent.
Disappointed that it isn't possible to use external flash in silent mode. Have been shooting some master classes with 4 well know known classical concert musicians, guiding 10 or 12 near genius young musicians, mainly pianists, aiming for the concert circuit. Much has been shot at ISO 8000, to 10000. The clicking of a camera would have been a disaster in confined room but fill flash would have been much less intrusive. Hugely impressed at ISO 8000 to 10000, only minor noise editing needed. But would have been better with a lick of fill flash. Also the Ziess F4 24-70 served me well.
Still miss the Panorama on this camera. The part of Italy I was in is ideal for pano's.

Thank you for passing the word to Sony. There can be occasion when silent mode with flash can be desirable.
Hi ruddiforthm,
I'll see if I can find out anything for you. Maybe someone else in the community can help in the meantime.
Thanks,
Pascale
Hi Ruddiforthm,
I just had a look into the Help Guide of the camera and found out that one of the limitations of the silent shooting function is that you can't use flash shooting as explained here: https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/1720/v1/en/contents/TP0001661969.html
I am not sure if this can be changed but I've raised your feedback to my contact at Sony.
Could you share some of the amazing pictures with us and the settings used as well?
Cheers,
