Does resetting the A7iii also reset the file numbering?

formatting the memory card and re-creating the image database usually resets the file numbering. Or are you referring to the total shutter count?

I am avoiding resetting the camera because I *don't* want to reset the file numbering. Hence my original question: does resetting the camera also take the file numbering (which I have set to sequence, i.e. it does not revert to zero on putting in a fresh memory card) back to zero? I understand resetting the camera resets the shooting settings; is the file numbering included in these?

As far as I can guess the reset leaves the numbering intact as long as you have your SD card inserted.

It continues after the last picture.

Second guess.

When you put an SD card into the camera with the right file structure and a last picture with a high number it will continue counting onward.

When you format the SD it will start counting anew.

So test bij placing a clean formatted SD card into the camera without resetting or so and see what file numbers are given.
