A7RIII Strange Manual & AF-C Focus Message

Hi there,

Please can you guys help.

I have received a brand new A7RIII today - great camera. I've spent half the day learning and setting it up and I haven't even scratched the surface! 

I've got the 55 f1.8 lens on there and when I select 'manual focus' and click the button in the center of the dial, I get a message 'this operation or setting not available as follows - focus mode, (then highlighted underneath) manual focus'

Yet when I turn the focus ring I get a magnified image that definitely seems to be focusing. 

When I put the focus mode into AF C and I press the center button and I get the same message, but instead of 'Manual Focus' it's 'Continuous Focus'.

However both focus modes are working fine.

I'm just wondering why I get that message?
