A6400 and Ronin S issue

I have an issue with a6400+Ronin S, when those 2 are connected AF with face recognition and steady shot becoming inactive. steady shot is not a problem because Ronin do it's job but lack of AF with face priority is a drawback. is there any solution to this?

hi,

thank you for your reply. I'll just add that face priority becomes inactive only when the video is set to 4K and the camera is connected to Ronin S,  it works fine when camera isn't connected. in HD video face priority works fine with a camera connected to Ronin S. I am running both camera and Ronin S updated to the latest firmware.

Hi Tomasz ,

I've just checked and the SELP1650  is a OSS lens. I checked the limitations in the manual and I found that the steady shot will not work : https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/1810/v1/en/contents/TP0002273522.html?search=tripod

Also, the Face/Eye Priority in AF  aren't available when you shoot in 4K: https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/1810/v1/en/contents/TP0002273469.html?search=face

I think all points mentioned are just product design limitations not faults

hi,

Thanks for your reply but I haven't found any information in Sony's manual  that OSS is turning off when camera is conected with USB cable to external device like PC or Ronin S. Well, apparently that's the way it is.

In my case face detction works fine in 4K 25fps when the camera isn't connected to anything. Sony's user manual mensions indeed that face detection is not available when camera is connected to HDMI device but again they don't say anything about USB connection. Thats probably another limitation and we have to live with that unless Sony find a solution and implement it in a new firmware.

I think that case can be closed now.

Thank you.

Hi Striba, that was answered in the thread already as it's due a limitation.
