Casting to Sony Bravia

Casting to Sony Bravia - I select Internet TV and get the page with the terms and conditions and I am unable to get my remote control to move the cursor down to the Cookies message so the screen just sits there. Even changed the batteries on the remote control but it's not that - works perfectly well in all other respects. Any ideas?

What is the full model number of your TV, it will start with K, KD or XR.

What device are you trying to cast from? If possible please post an image of this page showing the cookies message.

Also when I cast to my Sony TV it shows the Model number, not Internet TV.

No idea what my model number is . . . casting from an Amazon Kindle, which shows the casting icon clearly so I don't think that's the problem.

The TV is currently in use so will try again and take a picture of the screen and reply again!

The issue has moved on . . . firstly, the app on the TV is called Internet Browser, which displays a long list of countries I thought I could ignore but apparently not, so I laboriously navigated the page to click on Europe and then on the UK, then the screen changed - see screenshot below. I am playing the TV programme on my Kindle, I have clicked the casting logo . . . and I have no idea what to do next. I have tried clicking on all the options on the screen but cannot find anything that works.

I’m sorry, but I still have no idea what you are trying to do. What exactly are you trying to cast from your Kindle?

Your image is showing the built in web browser (slow and almost impossible to use on a TV). The country selection etc. is because the browser is opening the Sony home page and wants to know which country you are in.

Is it simply an URL that you are trying to cast? You can enter this directly on the TV by highlighting the URL field and entering the URL. This will take you ages trying to navigate the on-board keyboard. Something achieved in seconds on a computer or tablet.

Sony Bravia is a generic name for a Sony TV. To offer specific help we need the full model number. There are hundreds of models, all different.

I should say again for clarity that when I play the video on this page on my kindle I click on the cast icon but it does not fast to the television. Obviously am doing done wrong. I know it works because I have done it before more than a year ago, when I clicked on the cast icon it just transferred and played on the television.

Apologies if I am not using the correct terminology but I used to hit the Cast icon on my Kindle, then go into the internet browser on the television and whatever was playing on the Kindle displayed on the television. Are you saying I cannot do this and I have to type in the URL into the address bar?

Hi @keithh, to cast on your TV, follow these steps:

1. Connect a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet to the same home network that the TV is connected to.

2. Launch a Chromecast built-in supported app on the mobile device.

3. Select the (cast) icon in the app.

4. Select the TV as the cast destination.

Thanks Maggie . . .I already get the cast icon on my mobile device so I presume I already have the Chromecast app installed although I get no option where to cast it.

I realise this enquiry makes me sound like I don't know anything about tech but that's not the case. I have cast to the TV before but it's not doing it now so I presume something has changed. I don't know how to access the Chromecast app though so I can't check to see whether it's casting somewhere else.

Update . . . Looks like the cast icon appears even if you don't have a casting app installed which is counter intuitive to be polite about it.

Nothing like that in my list of apps and when I search the app store there is no Chromecast app there which I guess is an Amazon thing.

I think I will give up. I watch too much tv anyway.

Another reason for me laughing whenever I hear companies adding Smart as a prefix because none of them are actually smart whether it's a tv, phone or gas meter!

Hi @keithh I guess it's a compatibility issue that you have as you have been advised earlier that the Kindle might not work with the casting feature. However, I would recommend speaking to Sony's technical team if they have a solution: https://services.sony.co.uk/supportmvc/en/contact/

Thanks - if it's a compatibility issue then it's been introduced by a software upgrade on either the Kindle or the TV because it used to work. I will take a look at the Sony support.
