Hi,

I think this has to do with the medium, + types seem to work better than - types of DVD players. I would stick to using +R/+RW for watching in a stand alone system.

Hi folks,

I have some problems with my DVD-burner DW U12A. I could successfully burn Video-DVDs in the +R, -R, +RW and -RW format. But I couldn't run them on standalone DVD-players. Only the +RW format worked.

Firmware: 2.0.e
I checked several standalone players and also several DVDs. Every time the same data, but only the +RW worked. On the DVD-Rom on PC all formats work.

Who knows the reason or has a solution?

Thanks
Hacke

I have the same drive, but my DVD-R backups work ok on my standalone DVD player (a 2 year old Sanyo). Maybee the media you are using has a low compatibility rate with the writer? I use Ritek GO4 media, and havn't burnt one bad DVD yet.

It's most likely a problem with the player - a lot of players made over 18 months ago have problems reading some formats.

Yeah that's what I thought, the player might not be able to read the - type disks.

Thanks for your ideas.

But I tested some kinds of media of several vendors.
And also used 3 different players, none of them older than 1 year, but all older than 6 months.

Is it possible, that my DVD-writer isn't right adjusted or somewhat like that?
The result is always the same, no matter, what media or what player I use: +RW works, the other types don't. But software-Players always work.

Another possibility: No luck. All media and player I used randomly have problems in this environment. I can't believe that...

Any further ideas?

Thx Hacke
