When I type in this model number , it is not recognised...why?

Hi Richard and welcome,

You are not quoting a valid Vaio Model - which explains why you can't find support.

I presume you are quoting the chassis design model type on the bottom which can be shared by several models. Have a look on the screen surround or above the keyboard for a valid model type. Is it a small 10.4" Ultraportable?

Is it something like this PCG-505E?

My technophobe father-in-law has now given me the correct model ! - VGN-NS20J/S

I still can't find the answer to his problem though in Sony's technical docs. He can't get full screen on his Sony TV when he connects his notebook. Do you know if he should be lowering the resolution to, say, 800x600 or trying to get it higher beyond the current setting of 1280x720? If the latter, he seems to be only able to go to 1280 x 800. My PC goes to 1600 x 900 and I'm not sure how he gets this high if he need to?

He's made all the adjustments as instructed on the TV itself.
