When I was using my VPCF24P1E with Windows7-64bits, everything was perfect, but when I upgraded to Windows8-64bits the buildin camera was not detected in devices manager

Hi algnerd,

We have received a number of reported problems with Web Cam after updating to Windows 8.

Can you please let us know whether you used the Sony Windows 8 Upgrade Kit that is available for your model? Also that you followed the upgrade instructions for migration - Migration will transition your VAIO to Windows 8, whilst preserving folders, files, applications and personal settings. A clean install of Windows 8 is not supported by Sony Europe.

I don't think that I've used the upgrad kit, I got a licens from my school and I downloaded windows8 pro 64 bits from msdnaa

I preserved the applications and personal settings while installing

With OEM machines just upgrading the OS is not sufficient – you also need to install all necessary drivers, utilities and firmware upgrades provided by the manufacturer – in this case Sony.

I've installed the upgrade kit, but nothing was found: no automatic update nor manual updates. what to do??

Not having been through the procedure I am not sure on that but there are certain things that should be done prior to installing Windows 8 and the upgrade kit otherwise the new system may not work as expected.

You may need to revert to Windows 7 and then follow the upgrade instructions.

It still don't work, and I don't want to revert to win7.

Is there a way to get my webcamera working again??

Not as far as I am aware. Some models supported for upgrade to Windows 8 have a firmware upgrade for the Web Cam but this doesn't seem to be available for your model.

I can only suggest that you return to factory settings (Win 7) and then follow the upgrade instructions to the letter. If this doesn't resolve the problem then a call to support will be necessary.

There is the new update, every thing was working one the windows8, but today I've installed the Visual Studio 2012 and then the webcamer wasn't detected again!!!!!!!!

Any help?

last night before going to sleep, every thing was working, and now when I strated it, it showed me a message saying that the last device I connected stopped working, when I checked the device manager the Imaging tools disapeared and showed me Unkown Device under Other devices.

Knowing that I used the upgrad toolkit, and I installed all both updates from windows and Vaio Update.

What Should I do now??

It's realy urgent I need to use it to night!
