Hi out there !

This concerns an unexpected issue fitting a SSD to my Viao [vpceh3n6e].

I fitted the Sans Disc 256Gb SSD and installed W7 with updates, no problem.

Next I fitted the Hitachi HD which I removed from the Viao, to a SATA toUSB enclosure.

However the Viao cannot detect the HD [Hitachi] when connected to a USB port.

It powers up (I can feel the vibration) but reads “Invalid Disc” in Disc Managment and 0 bites.

I have tries other enclosures and connected the HD to other laptops but the disc cannot be read.

As I am unable to transfer data via USB, I have fitted the HD back to the Viao and all is working well.

I know there other methods for migrating data, however has anyone out there had this experience or would know why the factory fitted HD isn't detectable as an external drive?

Informed thoughts appreciated
