Cybershot DSC W520- clicking noise and won't open lens when turning on

Hi all

I purchsed the above model 4 weeks ago, when i turn on the camera i get a black screen with just "cybershot" written on it, i can hear a "ticking" noise from inside the camera and the lens isn't opening. after about 5 seconds, a screen telling me to "turn the power off and on again" comes up.

Can anyone help? Battery is fully charged, memory card and battery both inserted properly.

Sounds like some sort of mechanical malfunction. If you are prompted with that message, try removing the battery and putting it back in.

If the problem still continues then it sounds like an eningeer will need to inspect/repair the Cybershot. You may wish to go back to the store to see if there is anything they can do also.

Thanks for your reply- i've sent it back to the support centre in Dublin who will hopefully sort out the problem!
