What Watt and Specific Specifications for MEX-N4300BT

Hi Peeps. I'll start by saying;

I like Sony.

I've had Sony products all my life and they tend to be good products.

My wife bought a MEX-N4300BT without any consultation from me and now she wants me to get new speakers because the standard Citroen C3 speakers do not sound good and distort at higher volumes. She also wants to play FLAC files from a USB stick.

MY PROBLEM #1: I can't find the RMS rating for the MEX-N4300BT.

On the box, it says 55w Max Power. This means the standard rubbish old Citroen C3 speakers may be drawing TOO MUCH POWER from this stereo!?

Q1: What is the actual continuous power/RMS rating for this stereo?

MY PROBLEM #2: I can't find technical info for the USB reader.

I tried a SanDisk 32GB (exFAT) USB3 stick with a few FLAC files stored and nothing happened. I can't remember if it said anything or not and the car isn't here atm.

Q2: What are the technical limitations (actual specifications) of the USB reader on this stereo?

I've read the manual and checked the online documentations and they are very basic.

Q1: Speaker impedance is 4 - 8 Ohms and the max power output is 55W x4 (at 4 Ohms) according to page 25 of the Manual. No idea about RMS though.

Q2: The Manual does also list the playable file formats (Mp3, WMA, AAC, FLAC) and the supported file systems (FAT16 and FAT32) on pages 24 and 25.

As a general rule of thumb, when it comes to using external storage, go for FAT32 first, it's the most widely supported file system. It has limitations but it's a good place to start.
