topic Vintage hi 8 / Video 8 analog advice please in General chat

I need to prepare some short videos to play on a Sony Video Walkman which can play Video 8 and Hi 8 tapes. I understand that I will be limited to 240 lines resolution as this is what the Video Walkman can produce no matter whether Hi 8 or Video 8 recording and tape are used. My question is will I see an improvement in S/N either in luminance or Chrominance if I record from my masters using S Connector onto a Hi 8 tape with a Sony recorder that has S Connectors and can record Hi 8 or Video 8? I wondered if using a Metal evaporated tape using s connectors recorded at Hi 8 would replay any differently on the video walkman? I have noticed a difference between Sony HG tapes and Standard Sony Tapes with far fewer drop outs on HG. Only needs to be short tape so the increase in tape cost is not a factor. Any informed advice of benefits or problems would be gratefully received. For instance is Hi 8 going o be as stable playing on a Video Walkman? Thanks for any help
