Who is excited for the 1?

I'm seeing that people are disappointed with what Sony is offering but I'm liking the phone and I think I found the perfect upgrade for my XZ Premium.

Watching videos on the 1 is going to be fantastic. I just wish I could do monthly payments instead of having to buy it at once from Best Buy or Amazon

I don't think people are disappointed at all... It's just hard to stay excited when they said it will be available 3-4 months after they unveiled it.

I was waiting for that announcement and set an alarm in the morning to watch it. The stream broke half way through which was weird, but then they didn't mention the date when it will be available which I thought was the whole point of the unveiling, we already knew everything about the device lol

Waiting until June is just so offputting.

Yeah March or April would have been better but I don't mind waiting a bit. I don't change phones often so if I get the 1 it'll be my phone for a quite a while

I am - only just got an Xperia XZ3 but already looking forward to upgrading to the Xperia 1!

I am looking forward to this phone...but I do hope it gets the gesture navigation implemented into its software. I know it's an Android 9 feature but it's an awesome feature. I'm running it on my huawei mate and couldn't go backwards.

Now the bezels have gotten smaller on the Sony phones I want to return. I loved my Sony z3+ but kept overheating.

And why did they remove screen recording? That was awesome too 🙄

Don't talk from all people, i'm dissapoined, coz i thought Xperia 1 will be at last in the same level as are others manufactors products. Same level means the same new features like 5G, wireless charge and ect. If smartphone is good to wait 3-4 months is not so long.

Is a mobile phone all about just camera and videos?? For serious photography I use a couple of Nikon & Canon DSLR and nothing, repeat nothing, can beat that. No need to get into photographic technicalities here but just take a look around the sites of professional renowned photo-pros.

Of late - too much emphasis is being put just on camera/video specs. If I want to watch a good movie I use 4K TV - yes, again a Sony Bravia. :). Short videos on mobile are ok, but does that justify an uppish pricetag for a "tallboy" design which won't fit into any trouser/jeans pocket?

Thank you - but in my opinion a mobile's greatest USP should be a balanced set of latest all round features such a DT2W, Night mode, couple of good built in productivity apps, a reasonably balanced camera and video, a long battery life, and yes, most importantly - no bugs in h/w or s/w please.

Add a few more features like wireless Qi charging as @EUPHORIC has mentioned.

I am happy with my XZP G8142 and will not go for Xperia 1 or any of the 21:9 aspect ratio phones. Too tall, and not that easy to carry around.

Yeah ninjabird7. I have also XZ Premium and i have same idea, but XZ Premium will be my first phone for normal life (xperia 1 will be only for special times). Also i thing Z5, XZ Premium and XZ3 were BEST phones from Xperia Family and i really love it soo much - thats the reason.

I will by this phone only if there will be really brilliant camera from Sony Alpha team.

Well first they need to have the proper base that x1 is missing:

1. Best processor - they have

2. At least 8GB of RAM - no

3. Plenty of storage, min 128GB - they have

4. Big 4000mAh battery to power 6.5" screen - no

So only once base is met people are looking into and comparing some unique features like 4K HDR screen or camera quality, stereo speakers may be advantage, design is important too.

For me 21:9 ratio maybe will not be a huge issue, or maybe became a benefit, who knows? But the rumor they plan to cut the rom by half to 64GB in Europe too killed all the hype. Lack of communication and lack of release date / price and unability to preorder it too.

There should be some animations, some marketing videos on upcoming device, its features etc. to keep the hype but anything we have is silence...

Typical to sony, I didn't expect anything better from their marketing division (if there is any).

Hype is killed for sure, now it will be plain calculation and comparison to other manufacturers.
