Sony Ericcson in another region?

Merry christmas everyone,

I received this phone just yesterday and I have noticed that the xperia play launcher does not list some of the games such as dead space and need for speed hot pursuit, and in total there are only about 60 games in the more games section on the xperia play launcher. I am aware of the android market icon, which gives most of the rest, but not these titles and I suspect some others. Additionally, when I go to download one of the ea games it redirects me from the URL frontend.recommender.sonyericcson.com, which from what I understand is normal, to a swedish site, vip.accumulate.se. I also understand that sony ericsson is based in Sweden, so perhaps this is normal. Also the ea games server takes ages to load the download and when it does, for me it fails. Last of all, I wanted to download GTA 3 this morning, but it would not allow me saying I was not in the right region. When I go onto the android market from its seperate app, it allows me to download GTA 3, and the same when I go on to my computer. Oh and, I live in Australia. I suspect the app or phone is set in the wrong region, and perhaps requires a reinstall of the xperia play launcher app. I'm running 2.3.4 and the latest build.

have you cjhecked another xperia play having these games..?? if any...

there are some applications exclusive for some countries..

like the main page of market , it has various categories like music , movies and books and apps..

but where i live , i get redirected to the main page of applications.. i dont even get the options...

so best is to check with another xperia play user living in australia..

well wait for some other user to reply on this..

I'll check with a friend if I have to but I'll have to wait another 4 weeks so I'd prefer to fix it before then.

you can change the region language on the phone but that won't change the country were you use it, thus, limiting the access to some apps, like google music, the cloud part of the app it's only available in the US and I think soon in other countries, same with some games like slimshaddy pointed out.

you can do a factory reset or repair it/update your phone with PCCompanion or Update Service and then change the region or just go to

settings -> language & keyboard -> select language (this will change the location too)

Thanks for the response.

I'm starting to believe its not the region but the xperia play launcher or possibly just the ea and gameloft servers, the ones I had problems with. The downloads on the ea games are almost impossible to reach, the connection is so slow, yet I have a o.k wi-fi connection, the router is capable of 54mbps and I did the speed test and it showed over 10mbps on my phone. I also tried to a gameloft server and it was incredibly slow as well, perhaps its my router settings. Although, they are advertising this offer for 4 free games in my xperia play launcher, so I have reason to believe Australia has the games that are not listed, as they are listed in the following webpage for download when I go into this offer. Every single time I tried a download with ea and gameloft, it has failed.

Thanks for that, but I fixed it. YAY!

It turns out it was just my modem being slow, it was the dhcp, which I set to static instead of dynamic, which for some reason fixes the phone. Mehh....

I'm happy!
