carnt log in to gmail.......

hi there just got x8 for xmass verry nice phone apart from i carnt log in to gmail account..ive registed ok but when i go to log in to put passs word...its got a differnt user name i carnt seem to change the user name and put my password its a new phone sop carnt see why the name is there...carnt go to android without doing thiss anny help please

It seems rather odd that it has someone else's account on it, unless it was a returned phone... i think you can erase the account on the phine by going to Settings - Accounts & sync - tapping the gmail account that is shown on there and then selecting Remove account from the bottom of the screen. That should then enable you to put in your own account details.

problem solved but not the way you said...tryed to go to settings ect no option to delete account? its a new phone from o2 shop think must been used in shop ..looked new though...had to reset to fatory settings and get a new googlemail account not gmail..wifi ok but need mms/internet settings again from o2 not recieved yet sent word ACTIVE to 2020 must be bissey ect thanx for help

Yes, restoring to factory settings would do it, too. A bit of a pain, though not too bad if you have only just got it and don't have too much stuff on it. Glad you've got it sorted.

im on android 1.6 darnt up grade to 2.1 now everything is working lol is there mutch differnce between 1.6 and 2.1 not had option to do thiss yet though dont think my version on list even prommised by end of year
